The Timeline of Heartbleed

Well, the last month (Apr-May 2014) has been one of the most exciting times within Computer Security, where the Heartbleed vulnerability has been front-page news around the World. At it core is the story of three people: Dr. Stephen Henson, Steve Marquess and Robin Seggelmann, and in the poor implementation of the Heartbeat protocol.  It all began with Eric Andrew Young and Tim Hudson, who developed the first parts of the cryptography libraries, and which was handed over to the Open SSL Foundation (OSF) on 17 December, 1998, and here’s what followed:
